BJD slams Odisha govt over delay in old-age pension disbursement

Bhubaneswar, Sep 15 (UNI) The Opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Tuesday expressed concern over the alleged delay in disbursement of social security and old-age pensions in Odisha, saying the beneficiaries, many of whom depend on the monthly assistance for medicines and other essentials, were facing severe hardship.
In a statement, BJD spokesperson Lenin Mohanty alleged that old-age pension payments had been delayed from March to September this year and criticised the state government for failing to resolve the issue effectively.
He said nearly 20 lakh beneficiaries had not received their monthly pension of Rs 1,000 from April to June, triggering widespread resentment across the state.
