Tripura Congress to intensify agitation against BJP -led Govt in Centre and state

Agartala, Oct 24 (UNI) Three All India Congress Committee (AICC) observers are scheduled to visit Tripura from October 27 to 29 to finalise the programme of the party to intensify its campaign across Tripura against the BJP-led government in both the Centre and state, said Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Asish Kumar Saha here today.
During their visit, the observers, Gajendra Pratap Singh, Pradeep Jain, and Deepak Sharma, will oversee a series of meetings set to take place in all nine organizational districts of Tripura. They will engage in discussions with district and block-level leaders, in addition to state party officials, Saha said.
He said the focus of these meetings will be the party's allegations of irregularities in the electoral process and its demands for accountability from the Election Commission.
The Congress party has been seeking the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, and the restoration of names that have allegedly been removed from the rolls.
The TPCC chief expressed concern that the functioning of the Election Commission has raised significant issues regarding democratic rights and the fairness of elections. The Congress party has accused the electoral body of operating in a manner that disproportionately favours the BJP.
The visiting AICC observers will collaborate with the state leadership to mobilize party members for a planned Congress rally at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi on November 1.
The meetings at the district level are anticipated to concentrate on enhancing coordination among various party units and ensuring increased participation in the upcoming rally.
Saha further stated that the Congress party will maintain its outreach efforts at the block level across Tripura until November 25, with the observers set to evaluate preparations and coordinate with local leaders to guarantee that the programs align with the party's overarching plan.
The TPCC president also urged other opposition parties in Tripura to unite on matters related to democracy and electoral rights.
Through the forthcoming meetings and press conferences, the Congress aims to encourage broader opposition participation in a consolidated campaign against what it perceives as the misuse of electoral institutions.
Overall, the three-day visit is expected to generate organizational momentum for the party's statewide campaign while simultaneously preparing its workers for the scheduled events in both Tripura and New Delhi.
