Nitin Nabin stresses coordination between BJP organisation and govt in Bengal

Kolkata, Sep 27 (UNI) The critical need for coordination between the party organisation and elected representatives, as well as between the organisation and the government, was the central message conveyed by BJP national president Nitin Nabin during his first visit to West Bengal after the constitution of the party’s full-fledged state committee.
According to party sources, Nabin urged leaders at all levels to maintain close coordination to strengthen the organisation and ensure that the government’s work is effectively communicated to people.
Nabin held a meeting with state office-bearers, departmental convenors, state presidents of various frontal organisations, district office-bearers and elected representatives at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre in New Town on Sunday afternoon. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, state BJP president Samik Bhattacharya and BJP national general secretary Sunil Bansal were also present. Nabin, along with Bhattacharya and Bansal, addressed the meeting.
The meeting came two days after the BJP announced a major organisational reshuffle in West Bengal. It was Nabin’s first visit to the state since the new state committee was constituted.
Sources said the BJP leadership has been concerned over instances of differences between MLAs and organisational functionaries in some parts of the state since the party came to power. The issue of coordination reportedly came up in the context of recent developments in Hooghly.
Chinsurah MLA Subir Nag had recently attended an event in the Saptagram Assembly constituency on a personal invitation. Questions were subsequently raised over why he had not informed the local MLA before attending the programme. Hooghly organisational district BJP president Gautam Chattopadhyay had also said that it would have been better if the local party functionaries had been informed.
According to sources, similar instances of differences have recently been reported from Kolkata, its adjoining areas and some other districts. The party had earlier constituted core committees in districts to improve coordination among different sections. However, concerns reportedly persisted in some areas over what party insiders described as “parallel activities” by elected representatives and organisational functionaries.
Against this backdrop, Nabin’s emphasis on coordination during his Bengal visit assumes significance. Party sources said he made it clear that elected representatives and organisational leaders must work together rather than function independently.
The BJP leadership also stressed the need for closer coordination between the party and the government to strengthen the organisation and maintain the government’s public image. Leaders were reportedly asked to actively publicise the work undertaken by the new government over the past few months.
The message from the central leadership was that organisational strength and the government’s performance need to complement each other, with greater coordination at every level of the party structure. UNI RC NST CDS
