Police misconduct complaint: NHRC seeks additional report from Jharkhand DGP

Ranchi, Oct 24 (UNI) The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has directed the Jharkhand Director General of Police (DGP) to submit a detailed additional report by December 28 on allegations of police misconduct and misuse of official authority in a complaint pending since 2022.
The commission issued the direction on October 23 after considering submissions by complainant Rajiv Kumar Tiwari, state general secretary of the Jharkhand Home Guards Welfare Association, and documents relating to the case.
Tiwari had lodged the complaint on May 27, 2022, alleging assault, abusive language and misuse of official position by police personnel. The complaint also questioned the conduct of the then Dhurwa police station in-charge, police inspector Praveen Kumar, and the compliance with earlier NHRC directions.
