TPNODL equips rural youth with solar energy skills

Bhubaneswar, Oct 12 (UNI) TP Northern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPNODL), in collaboration with the Tata Power Skill Development Institute (TPSDI), has felicitated 120 rural youth who completed the first phase of its Green Jobs Training Programme, aimed at boosting employability in the solar energy sector.
Implemented under TPNODL’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, the programme covered eight batches in two trades — Solar Supervisor and Solar Helper/Assistant Technician. The trainees received practical, industry-oriented training and certificates issued by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
At a felicitation ceremony, TPNODL CEO Dushyant Kumar Tyagi and other senior officials presented certificates to the trainees and encouraged them to pursue emerging opportunities in the renewable energy sector.
Tyagi said skill development was essential to enabling rural youth to benefit from the growing clean energy sector. The initiative seeks to bridge skill gaps, improve employability and promote sustainable livelihoods.
TPNODL also operates six vocational training centres in Baleshwar, Jajpur, Kendujhar, Kaptipada, Bahalda and Chadheipahadi. These centres provide employment-oriented training to local communities, with more than 4,300 people trained so far. While several beneficiaries have secured jobs in different sectors, others have launched their own businesses.
Through its green jobs programme and vocational training centres, TPNODL aims to expand employment and entrepreneurship opportunities and equip local youth with skills relevant to emerging industries, particularly renewable energy.UNI MK AAB
