Manipur govt to screen degrees of teachers

Imphal, June 20 (UNI) Manipur's department of higher & technical education has decided to screen M.Phil/ Ph.D. degrees of teachers in all government/government aided colleges following a Supreme Court judgement dated March 31, 2014 of dissolving the Chandra Mohan Jha University (CMJ) in Meghalaya.
Laishram Dolie Devi, joint secretary (Hr. & Tech. Edn.) government of Manipur said in a statement that all institutions were asked to submit details of teachers who have obtained M.Phil./ Ph.D. Degree from CMJ University, Meghalaya.
Reports have been received that there is a possibility of possession of fake/forged certificates of legitimate and good universities.
"Thus, there is an urgent need to verify certificates of M.Phil./Ph.D of all government/government-aided college teachers, including teachers under state universities of Dhanamanjuri University and Manipur Technical University of Higher & Technical Education Department, Government of Manipur," said Laishram Dolie Devi.
"This is irrespective of whether a certificate has been issued by CMJ University, Meghalaya or from any other university and deemed universities in India from the Education Department, government of Meghalaya or from the concerned state governments/universities," she added.
All documents should be submitted by July 10 and consequently, all benefits and privileges extended earlier on the basis of holding M.Phil./ Ph.D. Degree shall be withdrawn/ cancelled with immediate effect without further notice on the expiry of the stipulated time frame, she said.
