Pledge to protect Terai-Dooars wildlife, make region global tourism destination: WB CM Suvendu Adhikari

Siliguri, Sep 22 (UNI) West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday urged local people, particularly students and young people, to take a pledge to protect the forests, wildlife and natural environment of the Terai-Dooars and to safeguard wild animals from poachers.
Addressing a World Rhino Day programme at Nilpara in Alipurduar, Adhikari said the government wanted the Terai-Dooars to emerge as a global tourism destination within a year, with its forests, wildlife and natural attractions forming the main strength of the region.
“The responsibility of protecting nature and wildlife is yours. If we can protect our forests and wildlife, we can develop the Terai-Dooars as a world tourism destination,” the Chief Minister said, while asking the students and local people present to take a pledge for wildlife protection.
