‘Scam 1992’ tops IMDb’s list of popular Indian streaming series of the decade

Mumbai, Oct 29 (UNI) Hansal Mehta’s "Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story" has secured the top spot on IMDb’s list of the most popular Indian streaming series of the past decade.
"Criminal Justice" has made it to the list four times, while "Black Warrant" also made it to the list for 2025. Released in October 2020, "Scam 1992" maintained its position in the popularity list for five consecutive years from 2020 to 2024.
Directed by Hansal Mehta, the series starred Pratik Gandhi as Harshad Mehta. The story, set against the backdrop of the stock market, received widespread appreciation from the audience.
"Criminal Justice" made it onto IMDb's popularity list in 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2025. "Black Warrant" also made it onto the list in 2025. The success of these three series is considered significant for both production companies.
Mehta said that the success of "Scam 1992" is not limited to its initial viewership or rankings. The series continues to inspire people to question power, money, ambition, and the system even today. He added that maintaining a spot on the popularity charts for five consecutive years reflects the audience's continued passion for the story.
Gandhi, who plays Harshad Mehta, said that some characters become a permanent part of an artist's journey, and Harshad Mehta is one such character for him.
He said that "Scam 1992" opened doors to new opportunities for him, and he is grateful to Hansal Mehta for trusting him with the role. He described the love he receives from audiences even after so many years as a special experience.
The "Scam" franchise is now set to present another chapter of India's economic history to audiences with "Scam 2010".
