Centre initiates process to declare ancient Tripura Temple monument of national importance

New Delhi, Nov 3 (UNI) The union government has initiated the process of declaring an ancient temple at the Rajbari Complex in Tripura’s Gomati district a monument of national importance, inviting objections from interested persons within two months.
The Ministry of Culture, through the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), issued a notification on October 29 proposing to accord the status to Temple No. 1 at the Rajbari Complex in Amarpur.
The proposal has been made under Section 4(1) of the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1958.
According to the notification, the Centre is of the opinion that the ancient monument, identified in the accompanying site plan and land schedule, deserves recognition as a monument of national importance.
The notification states that the central government "hereby gives notice of its intention to declare the said ancient monument to be of national importance."
The proposed protected area measures approximately 0.32 acre and comprises five revenue plots. The land schedule identifies parcels owned by private individuals as well as the Tripura government.
The identified plots include parts of survey numbers 1831 and 1877, along with plots 1878, 1879 and 1880. Their respective areas and ownership details have been specified in the notification.
The government has provided an opportunity for interested persons to submit objections to the proposed declaration within two months of the notification's issuance.
Objections may be sent to the Director General, Archaeological Survey of India, 24 Tilak Marg, New Delhi-110001, or by email.
The notification states that objections received within the stipulated period will be considered by the Central government before any further action is taken.
The accompanying site plan identifies the temple's location and the surrounding revenue plots, clearly demarcating the area proposed for protection.
The notification has been issued by ASI Director General Yadubir Singh Rawat.
The proposed declaration is at the preliminary notification stage, and the monument has not yet been formally declared one of national importance under this notification.
