PM-UDAY scheme gains momentum as mapping project gets approval: Delhi CM

New Delhi, Oct 7 (UNI) The implementation of the PM-UDAY Scheme, aimed at providing property rights to residents of Delhi’s unauthorised colonies, is set to gain fresh momentum, as the Central Government has approved a Rs 65-crore project under ‘DRISHTI’ (Delhi Revenue and Imaging Survey, Spatial Technology Initiative) to develop a modern geospatial/ GIS-based survey and mapping system in the national capital.
Under this ambitious project, PM-UDAY Cells will be set up across all the thirteen districts of the national capital, along with a branch at the headquarters. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has said the technology-driven ‘DRISHTI’ project will make the survey and mapping of properties more transparent, systematic and time-bound.
The project has an estimated total cost of Rs 65 crore, of which Rs 52 crore, or 80 per cent, will be provided as a grant from the Urban Development Fund (UDF) of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, while the remaining Rs 13 crore, or 20 per cent, will be contributed by the Revenue Department of the Delhi Government, CM informed.
Throwing more light on the initiative, CM shared that ‘DRISHTI’ project will establish a modern geospatial and GIS-based survey system for the PM-UDAY Scheme, which is going to help make the survey, mapping and documentation process related to properties under the scheme more systematic and time-bound.
The responsibility for implementing the scheme has been assigned to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), state government’s Revenue Department and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. The project will help residents get the benefits of property ownership, transfer and other related rights in a swift manner. The grant from the Urban Development Fund will be released in four instalments, and if the procurement is carried out through GeM, the entire approved amount may be released in a single instalment, subject to the prescribed conditions.
Gupta has said that the PM-UDAY scheme is not merely a process of issuing property-related documents, but an important means of providing legal security over homes and property rights to lakhs of families living in unauthorised colonies.
The Delhi Government is working to ensure that eligible people do not have to face unnecessary difficulties in securing their rights and that the benefits of the scheme reach the ground quickly. UNI APS CDS
