CBSE asks schools to hold writing competition on women empowerment from Nov 5

New Delhi, Nov 3 (UNI) The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has asked all its affiliated schools to organise a writing competition on women empowerment from November 5 to 17 for students of Classes 3 to 12, focusing on girls' education, women's leadership, financial independence and social reforms.
The competition, part of the CBSE Expression Series for the 2026-27 academic session, will be held under the theme "Women Empowerment: Educate, Enable, Excel."
According to a circular, schools must conduct the activities during school hours, evaluate students' submissions and shortlist four entries, one from each class category, for submission to the board.
Students of Classes 3 to 5 will write 150-word paragraphs on topics such as "Every Girl Has Big Dreams" and "Strong Women in My Life."
Those in Classes 6 to 8 can submit 400-word essays or poems on girls' education, nation-building and women breaking stereotypes in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and sports.
For Classes 9 and 10, the prescribed topics include women's leadership in governance and innovation, as well as financial independence. Students can submit essays of 700 words or poems.
Students of Classes 11 and 12 will write 1,000-word essays or poems on women's empowerment, sustainable development, policy interventions, and social reforms.
The board has instructed schools to check all submissions for plagiarism and reject entries found to contain copied material.
"Plagiarism is seen as a serious professional misconduct and, if identified, the submitted item will be summarily rejected," the circular said.
The entries may be written in Hindi or English. Schools must ensure that each shortlisted submission is certified by the head of the institution or the teacher in charge to establish its originality.
Schools will upload the shortlisted entries on the CBSE Expression Series portal between November 18 and 25.
Each CBSE region will select the 10 best entries in every category for consideration at the national level. National-level winners will receive online merit certificates on their registered email addresses.
Participants whose entries are successfully submitted through the portal will also receive online participation certificates.
The board said entries would be evaluated on originality, presentation, relevance to the topic and supporting arguments.
