President Murmu, PM Modi, Rajnath Singh salute IAF on 94th Air Force Day

New Delhi, Oct 8 (UNI) President Droupadi Murmu has lauded the Indian Air Force for its “courage, precision and operational preparedness” during Operation Sindoor, saying the air warriors had demonstrated their commitment to safeguarding the country’s security.
Extending her greetings to air warriors, veterans and their families on Air Force Day, Murmu said the IAF had rendered “exemplary service” to the nation while maintaining high standards of professionalism, discipline and preparedness.
“Operation Sindoor demonstrated the courage, precision and operational preparedness of our air warriors in safeguarding the nation’s security,” the President said in a message posted on social media.
She also highlighted the IAF’s contribution beyond military operations, noting that its personnel had provided valuable assistance during disasters and humanitarian crises.
“Their dedication remains a source of inspiration and pride for the nation,” Murmu said, expressing hope that the Indian Air Force would continue to uphold its “proud legacy of service and excellence”.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also greeted the country’s air warriors on the occasion, saying India was proud of their service and commitment.
“India is proud of our Air Warriors,” Modi said, adding that the nation salutes their courage and commitment to protecting the country’s skies.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh described the Indian Air Force as a symbol of “courage, valour, discipline and professionalism” and saluted its personnel for their selfless service to the nation.
“Greetings to all the courageous Air Warriors and their families on the Indian Air Force Day,” Singh said, noting that the IAF had consistently guarded the nation’s skies and risen to the occasion whenever the country faced a crisis.
He said the dedication and service of air warriors had not only strengthened India’s security but also contributed to national unity and the spirit of collective resolve.
The messages came as the Indian Air Force marked its 94th Air Force Day, commemorating the raising of the force on October 8, 1932.
Over the decades, the IAF has evolved into a key pillar of India’s national defence, with responsibilities spanning air defence, air superiority, strategic airlift, transport, reconnaissance, search and rescue and humanitarian assistance.
The force has also undergone extensive modernisation, inducting advanced aircraft, weapons, surveillance systems and other technologies to meet emerging operational challenges.
Air Force Day also provides an occasion to recognise the contribution of not only pilots but engineers, technicians, ground crews, support personnel and the families of serving personnel and veterans who remain integral to the service.

IMD warns of thunderstorms in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi on Oct 10-11
