Murli Manohar Joshi criticises DJ event near Badrinath shrine, says blowing conch shell is prohibited there

New Delhi, Sep 26 (UNI) Veteran BJP leader and the party’s Margdarshak Mandal member Murli Manohar Joshi has slammed the concert-style music event held near the Badrinath shrine, calling it a violation of cultural decorum and a “direct assault” on the sanctity of the sacred site.
Joshi said allowing a music concert or DJ event at Badrinath was “not only a violation of cultural decorum but also a direct assault on the sanctity of the shrine”. The Himalayas are sacred and divine, the abode of Lord Shiva Himalayan environment for the purpose of devotion and worship of the Divine. Even blowing a conch shell is prohibited at this place, he said in a social media post
“Adi Guru Shankaracharya Maharaj established this sacred Dham in the peaceful Himalayan environment for the purpose of devotion and worship of the Divine. It is noteworthy that even blowing a conch shell is prohibited at this place. Yet, by overlooking this tradition and organizing loud musical events, we are not only showing grave disregard for Indian spiritual, cultural, and environmental values, but are also ignoring the adverse effects that dancing by thousands of people at such a high altitude can have on their health.
