Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh to visit Cyprus, Greece

New Delhi, Oct 10 (UNI) Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh will visit Cyprus and Greece from October 12 to 15 to strengthen bilateral defence ties, with maritime security and defence industrial cooperation expected to feature prominently in discussions with the two countries.
During his October 12-13 visit to Cyprus, Singh is scheduled to meet officials of the Cypriot Ministry of Defence and call on the country's leadership.
The visit follows the visit of the President of Cyprus to India in May 2026, which gave fresh momentum to the India-Cyprus Strategic Partnership. Singh's engagements are expected to reaffirm the commitment of both countries to expanding bilateral cooperation, particularly in the maritime domain.
In the second leg of his tour, the Defence Secretary will hold interactions with senior defence and military leadership in Greece to explore avenues for further strengthening defence and strategic cooperation.
Greece's Minister of National Defence visited India in February 2026 and held talks with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. The high-level exchanges have contributed to closer engagement between the two countries in defence and strategic affairs.
The visit comes amid India's efforts to deepen defence and security partnerships with European union members, following the signing of the India-EU Security and Defence Partnership.
The engagements in Cyprus and Greece are expected to provide further impetus to India's broader strategic outreach in Europe, with a focus on maritime cooperation, defence industry collaboration and stronger bilateral ties.UNI PWS AAB
