Priyanka Gandhi accuses govt of smear campaign against Rahul, says truth will prevail

New Delhi Oct 27 (UNI) Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, on Tuesday, accused the BJP-led government of deploying “unprecedented resources” to malign Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, alleging that he was being targeted with what she described as bogus cases for fearlessly speaking the truth.
In a strongly worded post on the social media platform X, Priyanka Gandhi declared, “The truth can never be suppressed for long,” expressing confidence that the allegations against her brother would eventually be exposed.
“This government has spent unprecedented resources on a filthy campaign to malign my brother, to defame him and slap bogus cases on him simply for fearlessly telling the truth,” she wrote, accusing the government of pursuing a sustained campaign to discredit the Congress leader.
Praising Rahul Gandhi for standing firm in the face of what she described as a barrage of falsehood, Priyanka Gandhi said it took “immense courage, tenacity and the perseverance of a true warrior” to withstand the pressure. “One by one the chips will fall. The truth will emerge clear and strong. This is just the beginning,” she added.
Her remarks come against the backdrop of an ongoing political confrontation between the Congress and the BJP-led government, with Rahul Gandhi repeatedly questioning the government’s policies and raising concerns over the functioning of democratic institutions and constitutional bodies. The Congress has frequently accused the ruling establishment of using investigative agencies and legal proceedings to target opposition leaders, allegations that the BJP has disputed.
Priyanka Gandhi’s intervention reinforces the Congress leadership’s public defence of Rahul Gandhi as the party intensifies its criticism of the government over accountability, institutional independence and the treatment of opposition voices. However, she did not identify any specific case or legal proceeding in her post, leaving unclear which allegations or actions she was referring to.
