Kejriwal asks PM Modi to arrest Parvesh Verma, says action will help BJP connect with Gen-Z

New Delhi, Sep 28 (UNI) Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Monday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure the arrest of Delhi PWD Minister Parvesh Verma over an alleged slapping incident involving a young man during a road inspection in Tilak Nagar, saying such action would do more to connect with Gen-Z than social media outreach.
A video of the September 27 incident showed Verma pulling down the mobile phone of a young man before allegedly slapping him during an altercation at the road inspection site. Verma has disputed the allegations surrounding the incident and said AAP workers had abused his family.
In a video message, Kejriwal targeted PM Modi over his efforts to engage with young people and said the Prime Minister should instead demonstrate accountability by acting against his minister and those responsible for the alleged poor-quality road construction.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi puts on all kinds of theatrics to connect with Gen-Z. Sometimes he wakes up at midnight to make reels, and sometimes he goes bhajan-clubbing. Yet Gen-Z is still not connecting with him. Modi ji, have you ever thought about why?” Kejriwal said.
Referring to the road inspection, he said, “A few days ago, the Rekha Gupta Government built a road in Tilak Nagar. On Sunday, the people there showed how the road could be broken apart with their bare hands. Your minister was also present there. That minister pulled a Gen-Z boy who was standing there and slapped him. So how will Gen-Z connect with you?”
Kejriwal then called for action against Verma and those allegedly involved in corruption in the road project. “Let me tell you how you can connect with Gen Z. The Prime Minister must arrest his minister today. Arrest everyone who built that road and committed corruption. Then, Modi ji, you will not need to make reels at midnight, nor will you need to go bhajan-clubbing, and Gen-Z across the country will connect with you,” he said.
He further alleged that the Delhi Police had been instructed to protect Verma. ''But Modi ji, you will not do that. You will protect your minister. I have been told that the Delhi Police have been given orders from above to protect that minister,” Kejriwal said.
“The Prime Minister will protect his minister, protect corruption, and then still think that Gen-Z in this country will connect with him. Gen-Z in this country expects honesty and straightforwardness from Modi ji,” he added.
