Rahul Gandhi jibes at Modi over Rubio-Jaishankar meeting, calls minister ‘employee’

New Delhi, Oct 16 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has taken a sarcastic swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over US Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s expected meeting with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar in Mumbai, describing the Indian minister, apparently, as an “employee” summoned by the American official and questioning the government’s handling of the engagement.
In a post on social media platform X, Rahul Gandhi said, “Mr Rubio has summoned his employee to Mumbai. Modi ji, your officials in the External Affairs Ministry are confused about what's going on. You might want to explain. Unless, of course, you want me to.”
The Congress leader’s remarks appeared to question the circumstances surrounding the proposed meeting, suggesting that officials in the Ministry of External Affairs were unclear about the developments. His reference to Jaishankar, apparently as Rubio’s “employee,” was a political jibe aimed at portraying the engagement as reflecting an imbalance in India-US relations.
