Rahul Gandhi slams Govt over China, US tariffs

New Delhi, Apr 3 (UNI) Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Thursday made a blistering attack on Government’s foreign policy particularly on Chinese occupation of Indian territories and slapping of 26 percent tariff on Indian goods by US President Trump.

Raising the issue during the Zero Hour, Rahul Gandhi criticised Foreign Secretary cutting cake with Chinese Ambassador.

"Cutting cake with Chinese Ambassador to India was very shocking when China occupies India’s 4,000 sq km of land and killing of 20 soldiers," he said.

He further said, “It has also come to my notice that the Prime Minister and the President have written to the Chinese. It is the Chinese Ambassador who is informing us about this, not our own people,” he said.

The former Congress president said, “We are not against normalisation of ties but before that, we should get our land back.”

He further said, “Foreign policy is about managing external relations; you have given China 4,000 Sq km of land.”

Moreover, Gandhi also sought government’s response on President Trump’s imposition of 26 percent tariff on Indian exports.

He claimed that “India’s ally’s” decision to impose tariff on Indian goods will “devastate the country’s economy.”

He said, “Our ally has suddenly decided to impose a 26 percent tariff, which will devastate our economy. Our auto industry, pharmaceutical industry, and agriculture are all in line,” he said.

Gandhi also slammed the BJP and the RSS alleging that both have a “different philosophy”.

“When asked to lean right or left, they say they bow their heads to every foreigner that comes. This is part of their culture and history,” he alleged.

It may be mentioned that US President Donald Trump announced a 26 percent "discounted reciprocal tariff" on Indian imports, while describing the tariffs imposed by India as "very very tough".
