Railways revises redeployment rules for employees undergoing voluntary LASIK surgery

New Delhi, Oct 29 (UNI) The Railway Board has decided to deny special redeployment benefits to employees who undergo LASIK surgery without railway medical advice and are subsequently declared medically unfit for their existing posts.
Under the revised instructions, such employees may be treated on a par with staff seeking transfers on their own request rather than being granted benefits applicable to employees medically decategorised under existing railway service rules.
The Railway Board has directed all zonal railways and production units to deal with these cases under Paragraph 1311(i) of the Indian Railway Establishment Manual (IREM), Volume I.
