Himachal: 304 Common Service Centres set up in Kangra at Rs 14.89 crore,

Dharamshala, October 13 (UNI) Around 304 Common Service Centres (CSCs) have been established in Kangra district at a cost of Rs 14.89 crore, providing rural residents access to more than 170 government and digital services near their homes.District Panchayat Officer Sachin Thakur today said the centres, being developed under the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA), are transforming Gram Panchayat buildings into single-window digital service hubs.
The centres offer Aadhaar enrolment and updates, banking facilities, cash withdrawals through DigiPay, and services related to birth, death, income and caste certificates.
The initiative is also generating self-employment opportunities for Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs), particularly youth and women in rural areas.
Manoj Kumar, a graduate operating a CSC at Balla Jadrangal, and Sahil, an engineering graduate and MBA holder running a centre at Chaitadu, said the initiative had enabled them to earn a livelihood while providing essential services to local residents.
Villagers said the availability of CSCs nearby had reduced their travel expenses and saved time otherwise spent visiting distant government offices.
Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa said efforts were underway to establish CSCs at Panchayat headquarters to ensure convenient access to government services. Locations were also being identified under RGSA for expanding the network.
He said the initiative aimed to strengthen digital inclusion and ensure that rural residents could access essential government services without repeatedly travelling to district or other government offices. UNI AR SS
