HP Govt committed to social, economic security of needy families: MLA Malendra Rajan

Indora (Kangra), Sep 30 (UNI) Indora MLA Malendra Rajan on Wednesday distributed financial assistance cheques amounting to around Rs 21 lakh to needy families under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and provided fixed deposits of Rs 21,000 each in the names of daughters of 25 families under the ‘Beti Hai Anmol’ scheme.
Addressing the programme at the Forest Rest House, Indora, Mr Rajan said the state government, under Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, was committed to providing social and economic security to vulnerable and financially distressed families.
He said the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund was providing crucial financial assistance to families affected by serious illnesses, accidents and other difficult circumstances, ensuring timely support to those in need.
The MLA said the government was giving special emphasis to women’s empowerment, girls’ education and social security schemes.
He said the ‘Beti Hai Anmol’ scheme aims to support daughters of families living below the poverty line, with assistance available for a maximum of two daughters of an eligible family.
Rajan urged eligible families to approach the concerned departments and avail themselves of various welfare schemes. He said the government’s welfare initiatives would serve their purpose only when benefits reached the last person in society.
He also reviewed ongoing development works in Gangath-1, Gangath-2, Rappad and Atahra panchayats with elected representatives and local residents.
Issues related to roads, drinking water, power, education, healthcare and other basic facilities were discussed.
Rajan stressed the need for coordinated and time-bound implementation of development works and said balanced development of rural areas remained an important priority of the state government.

Darjeeling’s ‘Sisne Paha’ frog shows extremely low genetic diversity: Study

Varanasi, Oct 1 (UNI) Research by scientists from Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and Calcutta University has found extremely low genetic diversity in the Marbled Cascade Frog (Amolops marmoratus), known locally as 'Sisne Paha' or 'Sisne Pa', found in the Darjeeling and Kalimpong regions. Scientists have cited this as a serious conservation concern and urged the need to protect its population.

Himachal CM announces higher milk, apple procurement prices to boost rural economy
