Over 5,600 voter verification hearings pending in Panchkula

Panchkula, Oct 12 (UNI) As many as 5,643 voter verification hearings remain pending in Panchkula district under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, prompting the district administration to direct election officials to dispose of all outstanding cases by October 28, ahead of the publication of the final voter lists on November 6.
The pending hearings account for 5.44 per cent of the 1,03,684 notices generated under the SIR-2026 exercise across the district's two Assembly constituencies, Kalka and Panchkula, according to figures reviewed at a high-level meeting chaired by the Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer on Monday.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) of both constituencies and the Sub-Divisional Officers (Civil) of Kalka and Panchkula to accord top priority to pending cases and ensure their disposal within the stipulated deadline.
Officials were instructed to prevent unnecessary delays in processing notices and conducting hearings, maintain close coordination and regularly monitor the progress of outstanding cases.
The District Election Officer stressed that timely disposal was essential to ensure eligible voters were not inconvenienced while submitting documents required for verification during the revision exercise.
The meeting, attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner and the Electoral Registration Officers of both Assembly constituencies, reviewed the status of notices issued, hearings conducted and cases awaiting disposal.
The Deputy Commissioner also appealed to eligible voters who had not yet submitted their required documents to approach their respective Booth Level Officers (BLOs) without delay.
The administration said timely submission of documents would help facilitate the inclusion of eligible voters in the final electoral rolls scheduled for publication on November 6, 2026.
Officials were asked to maintain strict adherence to the revision schedule and ensure that all pending proceedings were completed by October 28.
The District Election Officer urged voters to actively participate in the revision process and complete the necessary formalities within the prescribed timeframe to avoid difficulties ahead of the final publication of the electoral rolls. UNI KK CDS
