Kangra DC asks BSNL to expedite mobile tower project in remote Bara Bhangal

Dharamshala, Sep 21 (UNI) Kangra Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa on Monday directed BSNL officials to expedite technical and administrative formalities for installing a mobile tower in the remote Bara Bhangal area of the district.
Chairing a review meeting on mobile connectivity, Bairwa asked BSNL to revive the proposal based on its 2024 feasibility survey and submit a detailed cost estimate, including the cost of equipment and helicopter transportation of material to the inaccessible region.
He said the proposal would be placed before the state government for necessary approvals and financial provisions. The administration would make efforts to begin the work during the current year, subject to requisite approvals and availability of resources.
Bairwa said mobile connectivity in remote areas such as Bara Bhangal was vital not only for communication but also for disaster management, emergency response, rescue operations and administrative coordination, particularly during the monsoon.
BSNL Senior General Manager Vipin Morya said the 2024 survey had found the area feasible for a mobile tower, but difficult terrain and logistical challenges had delayed the project.
BSNL DGM JP Garg, AGM DP Sharma, Baijnath SDM Sankalp Gautam and District Disaster Management Officer Robin Kumar were among those present at the meeting.
