Gurugram youth abducted over old rivalry, escapes after kidnappers' SUV crashes; two arrested

Gurugram, Oct 14 (UNI) A 23-year-old salesman, allegedly assaulted and abducted by a group of five to six men over a previous dispute, escaped captivity after the kidnappers' speeding SUV crashed while travelling towards Hisar, police said on Wednesday.
Two suspects have been arrested, while a hunt is underway for their accomplices.
The accused, identified as Nitin (20), a native of Pathraw village in Mahendragarh district, and Khush alias Manjeet (19), of Marot village in Jhajjar district, were arrested from Suncity in Hisar on October 10 by the Gurugram Crime Branch's Sector-31 unit. Both were residing in Gurugram.
Police said the two were placed on three days' custodial remand, during which investigators recovered two wooden sticks allegedly used in the assault preceding the abduction.
According to police, the incident occurred on October 7 when Vicky alias Roni, a 23-year-old salesman, went to Garhi in Gurugram to meet a friend around 6 p.m.
At about 8.30 p.m., five to six youths allegedly arrived in a white Hyundai Creta at Garhi Labour Chowk, assaulted Vicky and forcibly bundled him into the vehicle before fleeing.
The victim's father was informed about the incident by his son's friend around 10 p.m. that night. Police at the Sector-93 outpost also received information about the abduction and visited the scene.
In a written complaint submitted on October 8, the victim's father alleged that his son had been involved in a dispute with a youth named Prince a few months earlier over sales-related work. Since then, Prince and his associates had allegedly been nursing a grudge against Vicky and had threatened to kill him.
Acting on the complaint, police registered a case under Sections 140(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Sector-10 police station.
Investigators said questioning of the arrested suspects revealed that Nitin operated a taxi in Gurugram, while Khush worked as a Rapido rider.
According to police, the suspects and their associates had allegedly planned to abduct Vicky and his friend Sachin alias Kalu following a dispute involving Nitin and Prince.
On the night of October 7, the group allegedly forced Vicky into the Creta and drove towards Hisar.
However, while travelling along the Hansi-Barwala road, a cow suddenly appeared in front of the speeding vehicle, causing an accident. Taking advantage of the situation, Vicky managed to get out of the vehicle and escape, police said.
The accident disrupted the alleged kidnapping attempt and enabled the victim to flee before the accused could take him to their intended destination.
Police said investigators questioned the two arrested suspects during their three-day remand to establish the identities and roles of the other persons involved.
Efforts are underway to trace and arrest the remaining suspects, including those allegedly involved in planning and executing the abduction.
The two arrested men are scheduled to be produced before a court on Wednesday following the completion of their police remand.
Further investigation is underway to establish the full sequence of events and the involvement of the other accused.
