Haryana: Three held after man loses Rs 95,105 in online doctor appointment fraud

Panchkula, Sep 16 (UNI) The NIT Cyber Police have arrested three men from Jaipur for allegedly facilitating a cyber fraud in which a resident from Faridabad lost Rs 95,105 after searching online for a phone number to book a doctor's appointment, a police official said.
The accused have been identified as Rahul, a resident of A.K. Gopalan Nagar, Jaipur; Ravi, a resident of Ganesh Nagar, Jaipur; and Yash, a resident of Sharda Colony, Jaipur. They were arrested on September 14 by a team of the NIT Cyber Police Station, Faridabad, the official said said.
According to police, the complainant, a resident of Sainik Colony in Sector 49, Faridabad, had searched the internet for a mobile number to book an appointment with a doctor.
He subsequently received a call from an unidentified number. The caller allegedly sought details, including his wife's name, and gained his confidence during the conversation.
The police official said four unauthorised UPI transactions were made on July 2, draining a total of Rs 95,105 from the complainant's bank account.
NIT Cyber Police Station registered a case under the relevant provisions of law and an investigation was launched.
Significantly, the police said their investigation led the cyber team to the three suspects in Jaipur.
During questioning, police found that Rahul was the holder of a current account opened in the name of a firm called Smart Age Solution. The account was allegedly passed on through Ravi and Yash for use by cyber fraudsters.
Of the total amount purportedly cheated from the complainant, Rs 79,892 was credited to this account, the official said.
The investigation further revealed that Yash practises law at the Jaipur High Court, while Ravi works as a coach in Jaipur, according to the police.
Moreover, the three accused were produced before a court after their arrest and were remanded in police custody for three days for further questioning and investigation, the official said.
