Chandigarh, Oct 23 (UNI) Haryana has attached properties worth Rs 19.52 crore linked to suspected drug trafficking and arrested 6,824 people in the first nine months of 2026, as authorities intensified action against narcotics networks, illegal assets and organised drug cartels, officials said on Friday.
The figures were presented at the 14th state-level Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) Committee meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi.
Additional Director General of Police Sanjay Kumar, who heads the Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau (HSNCB), informed the meeting that the value of attached properties had surged nearly 230 percent from Rs 5.92 crore during January-September 2025.
The number of individuals whose properties were attached increased from 78 to 163. Haryana has set a target of Rs 30 crore in property attachments by December, while assets worth another Rs 15.09 crore are awaiting consideration by the competent authority in Delhi.
According to figures presented at the meeting, cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act rose nearly 40 percent to 3,809 from 2,722 during the corresponding period last year.
Arrests increased 26.53 percent from 5,393 to 6,824, while commercial-quantity cases rose from 346 to 380.
Heroin seizures nearly doubled to 84.695 kg from 43.176 kg, while opium recoveries jumped 82.69 percent to 430.3 kg. Cocaine seizures increased to approximately 2.96 kg and MD/MDMA recoveries to 1.76 kg.
The conviction rate improved from 53.33 percent to 58.34 percent. Officials said 50 significant NDPS cases had been identified for close prosecution monitoring, with one resulting in a 14-year prison sentence and a Rs 2 lakh fine.
"Twelve drug cartels have been identified across Haryana, and operations to dismantle them are underway," officials reported during the review.
Authorities have also identified 29 fugitives, with two Blue Corner Notices and one Red Corner Notice issued. District police have been directed to pursue lookout notices and passport revocation proceedings.
Since 2022, Haryana has placed 163 habitual drug offenders under preventive detention.
The meeting reviewed efforts to combat drug trafficking through darknet platforms, cryptocurrencies and social media. A specialised cyber cell is being developed, while financial investigations are being strengthened in commercial-quantity cases.
Officials also discussed monitoring precursor chemicals, inspecting CCTV systems at chemist shops and bringing all 127 de-addiction centres under the Mental Healthcare Act's registration framework.
The proposed Haryana Anti-Narcotics Reward Policy, 2026, has been forwarded for approval.
Senior officers, including Additional Chief Secretaries Sudhir Rajpal, G. Anupama and A.K. Singh, attended the meeting.
