Man held for dragging 15-yr-old girl into cotton field, attempting sexual assault in Hisar

Panchkula, Sep 16 (UNI) Haryana Police have arrested a man accused of dragging a 15-year-old girl into a cotton field, gagging her and attempting to sexually assault her before threatening to kill her in Hisar district, a police spokesperson said on Wednesday.
The accused, Baljeet alias Kala, a resident of Saiman village in Fatehabad district, was produced before a court and sent to jail, the spokesperson said.
According to the Haryana Police, the girl's family told the Barwala police that she had gone to pluck lemons near her house on August 27, when Baljeet allegedly asked her for drinking water.
Police said he then allegedly forcibly dragged the minor into a cotton field, stuffed a handkerchief into her mouth and attempted to sexually assault her. He allegedly threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incident.
The complaint further alleged that Baljeet subsequently came with four to five other persons and threatened to kill and shoot members of the girl's family.
Barwala police registered a case under Sections 62, 64(1) and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 4 and 18 of the POCSO Act, as cited in the police press note.
