Panchkula DC directs speedy probe, strong prosecution in 112 serious cases

Panchkula, Oct 29 (UNI) With 112 cases involving serious offences under review, Panchkula Deputy Commissioner Satpal Sharma has directed officials to expedite investigations, secure strong evidence and ensure effective prosecution, warning against negligence at any stage of the process.
The cases came up for scrutiny at a meeting of the district-level committee on identified crimes, chaired by Sharma at the Mini Secretariat on Thursday. The review covered crimes against women, heinous offences, cases under the Passport Act and Haryana Public Examination Act, corruption cases under the Prevention of Corruption Act, commercial-quantity narcotics cases under the NDPS Act, and incidents involving gang violence.
Sharma directed the concerned officers to complete investigations within the prescribed timelines and ensure that evidence was collected thoroughly and presented effectively before the courts. He stressed that investigations must remain impartial and evidence-based, with no room for laxity.
He said the objective of the committee was to ensure effective legal action in serious criminal cases and help victims secure justice. Cases must be pursued rigorously in court, particularly those in which charges have already been framed, he directed.
The Deputy Commissioner also ordered that serious cases be placed before the district-level committee only after preliminary scrutiny by the sub-committees at the subdivision level. The process, he said, should help identify priorities, facilitate timely evidence collection and strengthen prosecution.
DDA Mahipal Singh briefed the committee on the progress of cases registered under various legal provisions and the action taken so far. He assured the meeting that the concerned departments would maintain coordination during investigation and prosecution to ensure effective representation before the courts.
DSP, Central Jail Ambala, Geeta; ACP Crime Aman Kumar; District Development and Panchayat Officer Vishal Parashar; Drug Control Officer Dr Praveen Kumar; Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr Sandeep Jain; and other officials attended the meeting.UNI KK AAB
