HP: Patient alleges extortion, data leak at Tanda Medical College over Ayushman treatment

Dharamshala, Sep 16 (UNI) A resident of Ansoli village of Kangra district has lodged a complaint with the authorities of Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College (RPGMC), Tanda, alleging extortion attempts by unidentified middlemen, leakage of confidential patient information and irregularities in the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY scheme.
In his complaint dated September 13, A.B. Raajbansh alleged that two unidentified persons entered the Trauma Ward on September 12 and demanded at least Rs 50,000 for implants and other surgical materials, claiming that his wife's Ayushman card was inactive. He purported that the persons provided a mobile number for arranging the payment.
The complainant said his wife, who had been admitted on September 10 for arm surgery, was shifted to the Orthopaedics Female Ward on September 13, with surgery scheduled for September 14. He alleged that repeated calls were subsequently made from the same number seeking money for medical supplies.
Citing concerns over patient safety and reported leakage of confidential medical information, he said he sought discharge of his wife without the scheduled surgery.
The complainant has sought preservation and examination of CCTV footage, investigation into the mobile number and an inquiry into the alleged leakage of patient records, including diagnosis, surgery schedules and bed details.
Moreover, he has also sought immediate activation of Ayushman Bharat benefits at admission and a review of the hospital's implementation of the scheme, particularly regarding pre-operative expenses and surgical implants.

102 sugar mills made 100pc payment to sugarcane farmers in UP

Lucknow, Sep 16 (UNI) Thanks to the constant monitoring of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, 102 sugar mills made 100pc payment to sugarcane farmers in the 2025-26 crushing season. Meanwhile, 23 cooperative sugar mills made payments of Rs 2,820 crore.
The three mills of the State Sugar Corporation operating in the state have paid Rs543.51 crore for the 2025-26 crushing season. Private sugar mills have also made 100pc payment to farmers.
