Haryana Enforcement Bureau targets illegal mining, liquor smuggling, power theft; ADGP orders crackdown

Panchkula, Oct 12 (UNI) Illegal mining, liquor smuggling, electricity and water theft, and encroachments on public land have been placed under intensified scrutiny in Haryana, with newly appointed Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Dr Mata Ravi Kiran directing the State Enforcement Bureau to launch targeted operations against offenders and ensure swift, impartial action.
Assuming charge as ADGP of the Haryana State Enforcement Bureau at its Panchkula headquarters on Monday, Ravi Kiran made it clear that enforcement operations must deliver measurable results rather than remain confined to routine administrative exercises.
“Effective, impartial, time-bound and prompt action is the priority of the Bureau,” he said while inspecting various branches at the headquarters.
He directed branch in-charges to clear pending files without delay and ensure that enforcement cases were pursued through effective coordination with the departments concerned.
Identifying illegal mining as a major enforcement priority, the ADGP ordered special drives against unlawful extraction and transportation of minerals.
He instructed officers to strengthen surveillance, conduct targeted operations and initiate legal proceedings against those found violating mining regulations.
Ravi Kiran also called for intensified raids against illicit liquor manufacturing, sale and smuggling networks, directing officers to take legal action against those involved in illegal activities.
Electricity and water theft would also face stricter enforcement, with the Bureau coordinating with power utilities and other departments to identify violations and initiate action against offenders.
The ADGP directed officials to act against encroachments on government and public properties and unauthorised colonies, while strengthening coordination with district police, the Mining Department, electricity authorities and other agencies.
Emphasising technology-driven enforcement, he instructed officers to deploy drones and use drone mapping to monitor suspected illegal mining activities and improve surveillance in vulnerable areas.
He also called for action against antisocial elements, in coordination with the concerned authorities, to help maintain law and order across the state.
Meanwhile, the Bureau will organise a two-day state-level training programme at the Dial 112 Complex in Panchkula on October 13 and 14.
Ravi Kiran will inaugurate the programme, which will be attended by all 314 investigating officers and Bureau personnel.
The training initiative aims to strengthen operational capabilities and improve coordination in enforcement activities.
The directives signal an increased focus on field-level action against illegal commercial activities and theft of public resources. However, the Bureau has not announced specific enforcement targets or deadlines for the proposed special drives.
