J&K Police arrest two persons with Beretta-type pistol, heroin in Arnia

Jammu, Oct 6 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested two persons and recovered a Beretta-type pistol, ammunition and narcotics during a naka operation near the border village of Arnia in Jammu district, police said on Monday.
According to a police spokesman, a surprise naka was established at Tamala Bridge in Arnia at around 2245 hours on October 3. A motorcycle carrying two persons was intercepted by the naka party.
During the search, police recovered 264 grams of heroin, including packing material, a silver-coloured Beretta-type pistol, two magazines and four live rounds from Rahul Kumar, a resident of Trewa.
Another accused, identified as Ajay Kumar, a resident of Talhar in Arnia tehsil, was found in possession of 276 grams of heroin, including packing material, the spokesman said.
Accordingly, a case was registered under relevant sections was registered at Police Station Arnia and investigation was initiated.
During sustained questioning, police arrested Ajay Kumar alias Sam and recovered 464 grams of opium resin and 13.3 grams of heroin from his possession. He is being questioned to ascertain the source and procurement network of the recovered narcotics, the spokesman said.
Further investigation led police to arrest Jaganpreet Randhawa alias Jaggi from Punjab, who is suspected to be a forward link in the network.
"Further investigations are on to investigate the entire nexus," the spokesman said.
