Independent MLA Bansal arrested in 23-yr-old case ahead of crucial election of Chairman in Independents-dominated local municipal council

Jaipur, Sep 20 (UNI) Independent MLA from Hanumangarh, Ganeshraj Bansal, was arrested in an FIR lodged against him and others in connection with illegal issuance of 'patta' for the government owned lands in year 2003.
According to sources, the First Information Report was lodged on a tip-off from an activist at the Hanumangarh Jn. police station 3 days back in connection with the 23-year-old alleged forged patta scam. Since the filing of the FIR, the police was urging him to come to police station to make clear his position in the case. On Friday he was served notice by the police officials.
Bansal was detained for questioning last evening while he was leaving for Bikaner from Hanumangarh. After interrogation, he was arrested later this morning. Since a sitting legislator's name figured in the FIR, the case was being transferred to the CID- CB for further probe and investigation.
