Haryana dangles 18 dry ports to woo Swedish investment in logistics, clean energy

Chandigarh, Oct 15 (UNI) Haryana on Thursday pitched 18 dry ports to Swedish investors as strategic logistics hubs, launching a broader push to double bilateral trade and investment with Sweden within five years.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini unveiled the offer during talks in Stockholm with Swedish Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Benjamin Dousa, seeking to turn the northern Indian state into a Scandinavian gateway for cargo movement and supply chain expansion.
The meeting builds on the India-Sweden strategic partnership, elevated in May 2025, and takes forward engagement led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal. Saini said Swedish companies already command a robust and expanding footprint across Indian markets, and both sides have fixed an ambitious target to double trade and investment flows over the next half-decade.
Beyond logistics, the Chief Minister identified education, skill development, and clean energy as flagship sectors in which Haryana and Sweden could forge joint ventures and exchange technical expertise. Dousa welcomed Saini and endorsed closer economic cooperation with the state on future projects, according to an official statement.
Saini formally invited the Swedish minister to the state’s flagship “Happening Haryana” investment forum to tour the region’s industrial ecosystem firsthand. Haryana Cabinet Minister Vipul Goyal accompanied the chief minister during the talks.
Saini also interacted with members of the Haryana diaspora in Sweden, praising them for “illuminating the state’s name through their hard work and skill.” He said his heart “swelled with pride” when community members told him that the world is recognising India’s strength under Modi’s leadership, and described the visit as another step toward taking Haryana’s development to new heights while strengthening partnership with Sweden.
