Special voter registration camps in UP on Oct 17 and 24

Lucknow, Oct 13 (UNI) Election Commission of India (ECI) will organise a two-day special camp to enroll the left-out voters in the state before the 2027 assembly polls.
These special camps will be organized in all districts of the state on October 17 and October 24 (both Saturdays).
State Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa informed here on Tuesday that as per the instructions of the Election Commission of India, a special campaign is being launched in the state to include the names of eligible citizens and first-time voters who have been left out of the registration list in the Assembly constituencies.
The CEO stated that Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will be present at every polling station in the state on the special camp days from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. A sufficient number of Form 6s will be available at the camps for voter registration. Eligible citizens applying will be required to provide Form-6 along with their latest photograph, date of birth, and address proof.
He stated that a help desk will be set up at each polling station to assist citizens with filling out Form 6 and the voter registration process. All forms received will be systematically documented so that the records can be immediately made available to supervisory and inspection officers if needed.
Mr Rinwa stated that print, electronic, and social media will be used to widely publicize the special camps. All recognized national and state-level political parties and social organizations will also be informed of the camp dates. Selected photos and videos from the camps will be uploaded to the District Election Officer's website and official social media handles.
He stated that to effectively monitor the campaign, the District Election Officer himself and the Deputy District Election Officer will supervise the polling stations. The Electoral Registration Officer will visit the polling stations in the respective Assembly constituencies. Additionally, the District Election Officer, Deputy District Election Officer, Electoral Registration Officer, and Assistant Electoral Registration Officer, along with other relevant officials, will visit the polling stations on special camp days to review the arrangements.
The Chief Electoral Officer has directed all District Election Officers to organize camps at each booth, ensuring regular review and continuous monitoring of the campaign. Additionally, proper maintenance of the forms received during the campaign and effective coordination among all officials concerned should be maintained to ensure no laxity at any level.
The Chief Electoral Officer has appealed to all eligible citizens of the state to check their names in the voter list by visiting the special camps organized at their polling stations on October 17 and 24. If their name is not included in the voter list and they meet the prescribed eligibility criteria, they should complete the registration process by filling out Form 6. To ensure participation in democracy, registration of every eligible citizen in the voters' list is necessary.
