Dharamshala blood donation camp collects record 722 units

Dharamshala, Oct 7 (UNI) A blood donation camp organised by the Navjeevan Trust at Narwana in Dharamshala on Wednesday collected 722 units of blood, surpassing Himachal Pradesh’s previous record of 603 units by 119 units.
The camp was organised under the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ launched by the trust to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s completion of 25 years in public life. A large number of youths, local residents and people from different sections of society participated in the initiative.
To ensure smooth management and avoid overcrowding, donors were allotted separate time slots.
BJP MLA Sudhir Sharma said blood donation offers an opportunity to serve humanity. He appreciated the public response and said the participation reflected a spirit of service and dedication to the nation.
Congratulating Modi on completing 25 years in public life, Sharma wished him good health and a long life.
He noted that Modi took oath as Gujarat Chief Minister for the first time on October 7, 2001, and subsequently served as the state's Chief Minister three times before becoming Prime Minister.
Sharma said various service and public welfare programmes were being organised across the country under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan to mark the occasion.
Dharamshala Mayor Shamsher Singh Nehriya, Deputy Mayor Prerna Guleria, office-bearers of the Dharamshala Panchayat Samiti, Navjeevan Trust chairperson Shakun, and members and staff of Tanda Medical College and Bhagwan Buddha Charitable Trust were among those present.
The collection of 722 units marked a new milestone in voluntary blood donation in the state, the organisers said.
