Ayodhya gears up for 10th Deepotsav on Nov 7, VP to attend

Ayodhya, Nov 6 (UNI) As the glow of devotion prepares to illuminate Ayodhya, the holy city is gearing up for the 10th edition of Deepotsav on November 7.

The festival will transform Ayodhya into a radiant spectacle of millions of diyas, cultural expressions, and modern innovations. Adding to the occasion, Vice President C P Radhakrishnan will grace the grand celebrations as the chief guest.

The journey of Deepotsav reflects the remarkable expansion of the festival over the past decade. What began with 1.71 lakh diyas in 2017, reached a Guinness World Records milestone last year, when 26.17 lakh lamps were lit. This year, the target has been raised to more than 30 lakh diyas across 56 ghats, with the main illumination centred around Ram Ki Paidi.

Behind the grand spectacle is an extensive coordination effort involving thousands of people. A total of 35,000 volunteers have been deployed across 56 ghats to ensure the smooth conduct of the celebrations. They will work under the supervision of 900 ghat coordinators, 112 ghat in-charges and 27 supervisors, managing diya arrangements and supporting the overall event operations.

UP Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh said, “Since 2017, under the leadership of CM Yogi, Deepotsav has grown into a grand celebration of faith, culture and public participation, contributing to Ayodhya’s rising popularity as a tourism destination. The city has witnessed over 200 per cent growth in tourist footfall during the Diwali month between 2017 and 2025, reaching around 1.49 crore visitors last year, with numbers expected to touch 2 crore this year."
ACS, Tourism, Culture and Religious Affairs, Amrit Abhijat said, “Deepotsav is an opportunity to present Ayodhya's living heritage through a meaningful blend of tradition, culture and innovation. Our focus is to create a welcoming experience for visitors while strengthening local participation and positioning Ayodhya as a year-round tourism destination.”

Meanwhile, the main attraction if this year's Deepotsav are:
Around 1,000 artist groups from different states will perform across Ayodhya, while the Shobha Yatra will feature tableaux based on the seven Kandas of the Ramayana.

Selfie points, sand art, thematic installations, QR-based signages, lighting-pole branding and intelligent lighting with LED panels will add to the city's festive appeal.

The 3D projection mapping, grand screens, water tableaux and laser shows will be complemented by live performances by around 200 artistes.

A spectacular show featuring 2,100 Made-in-India drones will light up the night sky with choreographed formations. A special drone show will also be organised for the residents of Ayodhya on November 9.

A choreographed musical green firecracker show will be organised along the banks of the Saryu River.

A total of 2,151 performers will participate in a synchronised devotional ceremony along the Saryu riverfront.

Ramkatha Park will host Ramlila performances by groups from Assam, Kerala and Bengal, along with international participants from Sri Lanka, South Africa, Thailand and Bali, Indonesia.

A five-day mela and exhibition will be organised from November 5 to 9 at Queen Ho Memorial Park, Ayodhya.
As Ayodhya gears up for tomorrow’s grand spectacle, Deepotsav has evolved into more than a festival, emerging as a symbol of unity and cultural pride, where tradition blends with innovation and every illuminated diya reflects the spirit of a resurgent Ayodhya.
