Haryana journalists seek Rs 5 lakh medical aid, cashless treatment

Panchkula, Oct 9 (UNI) A journalists’ association in Haryana has urged Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini to implement two previously announced welfare measures — raising medical assistance for journalists from Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 5 lakh and providing cashless treatment — saying formal government orders are needed to make the benefits available.
Chandrashekhar Dharani, president of the Media Well Being Association (MWB), said the government should either issue a notification to increase medical assistance provided to journalists through the Haryana Information, Public Relations and Languages Department, or secure Cabinet approval at its next meeting.
He also called for the implementation of a cashless medical treatment scheme for journalists, saying the Chief Minister had announced the facility nearly two years ago. Its implementation would help journalists and their families access treatment without facing immediate financial hardship, Dharani said.
