Himachal CM announces Rs 1,000 monthly pocket money for beneficiaries aged 19–27 under Sukh Shiksha scheme

Shimla, September 21 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday announced that beneficiaries aged 19 to 27 years covered under the Indira Gandhi Sukh Shiksha Yojana would also be provided Rs 1,000 monthly pocket money, extending financial support currently available to eligible children up to 18 years of age.Chairing a meeting of the Women and Child Development Department, Sukhu directed officials to ensure that benefits under all welfare schemes reach eligible beneficiaries and instructed them to develop an integrated portal for all departmental schemes to facilitate seamless access to government assistance.
At present, the Indira Gandhi Sukh Shiksha Yojana provides Rs 1,000 monthly pocket money to children of widows and single women up to the age of 18 years.
The state government is currently providing benefits to 21,292 beneficiaries under the scheme, with a budget provision of Rs 40.29 crore for the current financial year. It also bears the entire cost of higher education for children of widows and single women covered under the scheme.
The Chief Minister said no child in Himachal Pradesh should be deprived of education due to a lack of financial resources.
He added that the state government was providing loans of up to Rs 20 lakh at an interest rate of one per cent for higher education to meritorious students under the Dr Y.S. Parmar Vidyarthi Rin Yojana.
Sukhu directed the department to arrange overseas exposure visits for 50 meritorious students from among the beneficiaries of the Indira Gandhi Sukh Shiksha Yojana and another 50 meritorious students from the state.
He said the state's resources and prosperity should benefit disadvantaged sections of society and ensure that they receive their rightful share.
The Chief Minister also reviewed the proposed Indira Gandhi Matri Shishu Sankalp Yojana, which aims to ensure the availability of nutritious food in 11 districts of the state.
He assured that adequate funds would be provided for the construction of nine Child Care lInstitutions (CCIs) in Himachal Pradesh.
Sukhu further directed the concerned authorities to expedite the construction of the Mukhyamantri Sukh-Aashray Gram Parisar at Luthan in Kangra district and complete the project by May 2027.

Six arrested for assaulting hotel worker in Gurugram; two cars, three sticks seized

Panchkula, Sep 21(UNI) Haryana Police have arrested six men for allegedly assaulting a hotel worker with sticks following a dispute over payment for food in Gurugram, a police spokesman said here on Monday.
The spokesman said the incident took place at around 9 p.m. on September 16 when the complainant, who works as a helper at a hotel, allegedly got into an argument with a customer who had come to collect food. The customer allegedly called his associates, who attacked the complainant and his companion with sticks, leaving the complainant seriously injured.

27-year-old man dies after honeybee attack in Panchkula forest

Panchkula, Sept 21 (UNI) A 27-year-old man died after being attacked by a swarm of honeybees while he had gone to collect firewood with two friends in a forest area near Pinjore in Haryana's Panchkula district, according to information provided by his family.
The deceased was identified as Raj Kumar, son of Manveer Singh, a resident of the labour colony at Rampur Seuri village. According to the family, Raj Kumar and his two friends had gone to the HMT forest area on September 18 to collect firewood when they were attacked by honeybees.
