HPBOSE to tighten examination monitoring, ensure strict action against malpractice

Dharamshala, Nov 1 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh School Education Board Chairman Dr Rajesh Sharma has directed officials to strengthen examination monitoring, ensure transparency and take effective preventive measures to curb the use of unfair means at examination centres.
Chairing a review meeting at the Board headquarters on October 27, Dr Sharma reviewed irregularities and cases of use of unfair means reported during the Himachal Pradesh State Open School (HPSOS) examinations held in September 2026. Coordinators, deputy superintendents and centre superintendents attended the meeting.
The meeting examined irregularities reported at examination centres, cases of use of unfair means (UMC), and the functioning of CCTV cameras and monitoring systems.
Emphasising the need for effective surveillance, the Board Chairman directed officials to ensure proper installation and smooth functioning of CCTV cameras in accordance with prescribed standards. He also stressed thorough checking of candidates and necessary preventive measures to eliminate possibilities of cheating.
Dr Sharma said merely registering cases of unfair means was not enough and that effective preventive steps were equally important to prevent such incidents. He directed examination staff to discharge their duties with utmost vigilance and responsibility while maintaining discipline at examination centres.
He further instructed officials to regularly inspect CCTV camera operations and ensure that no negligence was tolerated in the monitoring system. All officers and employees associated with examination duties were asked to strictly follow the guidelines issued by the Board.
The Chairman said the Board's priority was to conduct examinations in a fair, transparent and credible manner. Effective monitoring, better coordination among officials and accountability at every level were essential to achieving this objective.
He reiterated the Board's commitment to continuously improving the examination system and called for active cooperation from all officials and examination centre in-charges to prevent the recurrence of irregularities. UNI AR CDS
