Solar energy to power Narmada valley projects, says MP CM

Bhopal, June 25 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav today directed the use of solar energy in the irrigation system under the Narmada Valley project.

Yadav said this while chairing the 267th meeting of the Narmada Valley Development Authority at the Chief Minister's residence.

The Chief Minister emphasised that Narmada River is the lifeline of the state and the activities under the Narmada Valley Development Authority have led to a significant increase in irrigation area and power generation, improving the living standards of the people.

He directed that the use of solar energy be promoted in the irrigation system under the project to reduce expenditure on electricity.

The meeting discussed and took decisions on several projects, including the Shahid Ilap Singh Micro Irrigation Project in Harda district, Sendhwa Micro Irrigation Project in Barwani district, and Niwali Udvahan Irrigation Project in Barwani district.

The meeting also discussed the technical aspects of the ongoing Sleemanabad Tunnel project and other irrigation projects.

The Chief Minister directed that a plan be prepared for ghat construction at places of religious, social, and tourist significance on the Narmada River. The meeting also discussed the administrative approval for several micro irrigation projects in different districts. UNI XC AKT SSP
