Haryana to challenge power distribution licence for Gurugram, Nuh in APTEL: Vij

Ambala, Oct 20 (UNI) Haryana Energy Minister Anil Vij on Tuesday said the state government would challenge before the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity (APTEL) the licence granted for parallel electricity distribution in Gurugram and Nuh.
Speaking to reporters, Vij said the decision was taken by an autonomous body, despite the state government's opposition to privatisation.
"We had strongly opposed privatisation there as well, but since the decision has been made, the department has been instructed to prepare to file an appeal in APTEL," he said.
Responding to a question on the burning of a CJP effigy in Delhi on Dussehra, Vij said Vijayadashami marks the triumph of good over evil, and Ravana's effigy is burnt as a symbol of evil. "In the same way, new parties have emerged. People may consider them evil, which is why they are burning their effigies," he remarked.
Marking the Foundation Day of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Vij extended his best wishes to its volunteers. "The RSS has worked to preserve patriotism, service, culture and values among crores of volunteers across India. I extend my heartfelt best wishes to all of them," he said.
Commenting on the rising drug problem in Punjab, Vij held the Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party government responsible. He said the people of Punjab would reduce the Mann government's every ambition to dust in the upcoming election.
Reacting to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's corruption allegations in Goa, Vij said Gandhi had spoken in the same manner about every state ahead of every election. "The people of India know very well how to respond to him, and they have been doing so," he said.
