Rajeev Bindal all set to continue as Himachal BJP President

Shimla, June 30 (UNI) Putting to rest weeks of speculation about the new BJP president in Himachal Pradesh, Rajeev Bindal is all set to retain the top post.
The outgoing president, Bindal today filed his nomination at the BJP state headquarters in the presence of senior party leaders including BJP National Vice President Saudan Singh, former CM Jai Ram Thakur, BJP state incharge Shrikant Sharma and co-incharge Sanjay Tandon.
BJP election incharge Rajeev Bhardwaj said that single nomination was received for the post.
Three sets of nominations of Bindal for the post was backed by Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, former Union Minister Anurag Thakur and Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs and former state chiefs.
With no other nomination he is set to retain his position unopposed at the helm of the state unit.
Bindal has served as BJP’s Himachal Pradesh president since 2020 and this will be his third term.
A confidant of BJP National President J P Nadda, he is credited with strengthening the party’s organizational framework and expanding its grassroots reach.
His reappointment signals the party’s intent to maintain continuity in leadership ahead of the crucial 2027 Assembly elections and to continue the groundwork for a stronger electoral performance.
Sources within the BJP indicated that several names had been doing the rounds for the top post, including some sitting MLAs and younger party faces.
Bindal, a five-time MLA and former Speaker of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, enjoys a strong network across various districts of the state, particularly in Sirmaur and Solan regions.
In accordance to the election schedule his name will be formally declared by Union Minister Jitendra Singh on July 1 in Shimla.
