AIP questions credibility of Mehbooba, Farooq, accuses them of political opportunism

Srinagar, Nov 2 (UNI) Awami Itihaad Party (AIP), headed by jailed MP Engineer Rashid, on Monday launched a scathing attack on PDP president Mehbooba Mufti and National Conference president Farooq Abdullah, accusing the two leaders of exploiting Kashmir’s political and emotional sentiments through what it termed double standards, opportunistic alliances and selective outrage.
The chief spokesperson Inam un Nabi said Mehbooba Mufti’s attack on Farooq Abdullah barely 24 hours after sharing the stage with him in Delhi exposes the sheer hypocrisy of her politics. Abdullah and Mehbooba attended INDIA BLOC’s 's rally against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar at Ramlila Maidan on Sunday
“If Farooq Abdullah is so objectionable to Mehbooba Mufti, why was she sharing the stage with him yesterday? Why the silence in Delhi and the sudden outrage in Kashmir? This is not political conviction; it is political convenience. Kashmiris are not fools who can be fed one narrative in Delhi and another in Srinagar,” Inam said in a statement.
On electoral integrity, Inam questioned the National Conference's contradictory stance, saying that while the party refuses to acknowledge allegations of vote theft in J&K, its president Farooq Abdullah shared a platform with Congress in Delhi, participating in the very 'Vote Chori' campaign the NC refuses to endorse at home.
Taking Mehbooba to task for invoking the suffering caused by shutdowns and restrictions, Inam said both NC and PDP must answer for their own records in government.
“Mehbooba Mufti cannot conveniently erase the past. Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti have all been part of governments under which Kashmiris endured curfews, shutdowns, restrictions and internet blockades. Those who have presided over such restrictions cannot suddenly pose as the exclusive custodians of people’s pain. Stop shedding crocodile tears and start answering for your own record.”
