Chandigarh/New Delhi, June 25 (UNI) Amidst controversy over Punjab Vigilance Bureau raids and the subsequent arrest of Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia, Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal said today that the AAP government's message was clear - whoever was involved in drugs smuggling, howsoever big, none would be spared.
Kejriwal, in a video statement, without naming anyone or directly referring to Majithia, said the drugs menace was everywhere be it in Delhi, Haryana, Gujarat or Goa, but it was the Punjab government which was taking action, from arresting to bulldozer action, against it.
He claimed that people of the state, especially from villages, were praising his government's action.
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) conducted a raid on the Amritsar residence of Bikram Singh Majithia, a senior SAD leader and former Punjab minister, and subsequently arrested him in connection with a disproportionate assets case.
The raid was reportedly linked to findings from an ongoing investigation into a 2021 drug-trafficking case against Majithia.
Majithia was taken to Mohali for questioning and is expected to be produced before the Amritsar district court.
