Arrest of female journalist for questioning the Yogi government is condemnable: CPI(ML)

Lucknow, Sep 9 (UNI) The CPI(ML) strongly condemns the arrest and imprisonment of journalist and social activist Huda Jariwala, who questioned the Yogi Adityanath government on the demolition of the Uttar Pradesh Saharanpur mosque through social media.
The party termed her arrest an abuse of administrative powers and an attack on freedom of expression and demanded her immediate and unconditional release.
UP State Secretary Sudhakar Yadav said in a statement on Wednesday that the Constitution guarantees the right to question the rulers. Accusing the government of disturbing the peace and arresting and imprisoning people for questioning is not possible in a democratic state, but ''only in a dictatorial and fascist one''. ''The UP government is practising unconstitutional police-bulldozer rule, which is why attempts are being made to silence those who ask questions. This is unacceptable,'' it said.
