Ram Madhav is new Uttarakhand BJP incharge, controversial Dushyant Gautum makes exit

Dehradun, Sep 23 (UNI) BJP vice president and RSS ideologue Ram Madhav has been appointed as the new state incharge of the party in Uttarakhand. He replaces senior BJP leader Dushyant Gautam who was in the thick of the controversy over the killing of 19-year old girl Ankita Bhandari in 2022.
BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Wednesday announced his new team of state party incharges and co-incharges in all 36 provinces in the country.
Ram Madhav who was a key hand in making the first BJP government in Jammu and Kashmir has been made incharge of Uttarakhand, along with Delhi BJP MP Basuri Swaraj and Arvind Menon as new co-incharges.
Ram Madhav's appointment as the new Uttarakhand BJP incharge comes ahead of the 2027 assembly elections with the expectation to take the party to a third consecutive victory in the state.
Ram Madhav replaces former BJP general secretary Dushyant Gautam who attracted huge controversy following allegations leveled by a female TV artist linking him with the death of the 19-year old girl Ankita Bhandari in 2022. The female artist who made the allegations against Dushyant Gautum, was the wife of a former BJP MLA from Haridwar.
Although Gautum refuted the charges made by the woman he maintained a low profile after that.
The BJP leadership in Uttarakhand seldom invites him for any official organisational activities and functions after the controversy cropped up in the state.
BJP leaders in Dehradun informed that Gautum was deliberately kept away from organisational activities in the state to prevent public ire against the party.
He was last seen in Uttarakhand party functions when the BJP national president Nitin Nabin came on his first visit to Dehradun after assuming the office.
Even here Dushyant Gautam was was seen seated at the press briefing with Nitin Nabin.
