UP: Couple gets engaged in VIP gallery of Banke Bihari Temple, rules flouted; video goes viral

Vrindavan, Sep 24 (UNI) A new controversy has erupted between devotion and faith at the world-famous Thakur Shri Banke Bihari Maharaj Temple after a couple allegedly exchanged rings in the VIP gallery of the temple premises, recorded their engagement, made a video of the engagement and made it viral on social media, raising serious questions about the security and management of the Temple.
According to reports, a young man and woman had come to visit Banke Bihari Ji. They crossed the security cordon and reached the VIP gallery, where ordinary devotees are prohibited. There, they first worshipped Banke Bihari Ji and received his blessings, and then directly exchanged engagement rings in front of the Thakur Ji's statue. The entire incident was captured on a mobile camera and uploaded to social media as a reel, which is now rapidly going viral.
It is noteworthy that to facilitate darshan arrangements and ensure proper compliance with the rules at the Banke Bihari Temple in Vrindavan, a high-level committee has been formed by the Supreme Court to monitor the temple's activities. Furthermore, photography and videography are strictly prohibited within the temple premises. Despite this, this incident of entering the VIP gallery to get engaged and filming a reel has proven that personal desires are being overshadowed by rules and regulations.
Following this incident, there has been widespread outrage among local sevadars, devotees, and religious organizations. People say that the temple is a centre of faith and privacy, not a place for a private ceremony or a social media reel.
Currently, the temple administration is being asked to account for the negligence of security personnel, and efforts are being made to identify the couple based on the video.
