Centre starts land acquisition process in Panipat for Delhi-Ambala third, fourth rail lines

Panchkula, Oct 1 (UNI) The central government has started land acquisition in Panipat district, Haryana, for the 198-km Delhi-Panipat-Ambala third and fourth railway line project, as stated in a Ministry of Railways notification.
The Northern Railway’s Construction Organisation, under Section 20A(1) of the Railways Act, 1989, has announced the government’s intent to acquire land for the execution, maintenance, management, and operation of the special railway project. The notification, dated September 29 and published in the Gazette of India on September 30, covers land in 13 villages in Samalkha and Panipat tehsils.
In Samalkha tehsil, the notified land falls within the villages of Bhodwal Majri, Chulkana, Kiwana, Manana, Karhans, Machhroli, and Jhattipur. In Panipat tehsil, the land identified for acquisition is in Diwana, Sewah, Kabri, Sarai Bachhra, Nizampur, and Taraf Insaar.
The notification provides khasra-wise details and the proposed area for acquisition in each village.
The Centre said the land was required for the public purpose of executing the “Delhi-Panipat-Ambala (198 Km) Third & Fourth Line Project,” notified by the Centre as a “Special Railway Project” for land acquisition in Sonipat, Panipat, Karnal, Kurukshetra and Ambala districts of Haryana as well as parts of Delhi.
Interested parties may file objections to the proposed acquisition and use of the land within 30 days. Objections must be submitted in writing to the District Revenue Officer, Panipat, the designated competent authority. The grounds for objection must be specified. The authority will provide an opportunity to be heard, either personally or through a legal practitioner, before making a decision.
