Ahead of Deepotsav, new tourism attraction takes shape along Ayodhya’s Saryu

Ayodhya, Sep 17 (UNI) With Deepotsav approaching, a new tourism attraction is taking shape along the Saryu in Ayodhya, designed to offer visitors cultural experiences, local food and leisure facilities.
The UP Tourism Department is developing a new amphitheatre and food court near Rajghat to offer visitors a more engaging experience during major religious and cultural events.
The Rs 22.72-crore project is being developed under the Shri Ayodhya Ji Teerth Vikas Yojana. An official said the 90% work has been completed and the whole project is expected to be completed by the end of October 2026.
UP Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh said, “Ayodhya’s growing tourist footfall, particularly during Deepotsav, reflects its rising importance as a spiritual and cultural tourism destination. With around 2.85 crore domestic and international visitors recorded during last year’s Deepotsav between October and November, the numbers are expected to grow further this year.”
He also added, “The new amphitheatre and food court near Rajghat will add to the visitor experience by bringing together cultural programmes, local food and the unique ambience of the Saryu, while providing better facilities for tourists during Deepotsav and throughout the year.”
The project will feature an amphitheatre with a capacity of around 150-200 visitors, where various cultural programmes can be organised. A major attraction will be the mural walls depicting the complete Hanuman Chalisa, adding a distinctive cultural and spiritual element. A cafe, an eight-shop food plaza, public facilities and other visitor amenities are also being developed to provide tourists with a comfortable and engaging experience.
ACS & DG (Tourism) Amrit Abhijat said, “The development near Rajghat is envisioned as more than a visitor facility; it will create a distinctive experience along the Saryu. The project will also strengthen the Ramayana Circuit by adding another meaningful visitor experience to Ayodhya’s wider tourism landscape.”
