Haryana: Gurugram police impound 4,221 vehicles without number plates in October

Gurugram, Nov 1 (UNI) Gurugram Traffic Police impounded 4,221 vehicles found operating without registration number plates during October as part of a crackdown on traffic violations, a police spokesman said on Sunday.
Police said the month-long enforcement drive targeted vehicles operating without prescribed number plates, making their identification difficult in cases involving traffic violations, accidents and criminal activities.
The traffic police warned that vehicles without number plates pose a challenge to law enforcement as they can evade identification and make it difficult for investigators to trace their owners.
"Every vehicle on public roads must display the prescribed registration number plates. Violations will invite strict legal action," the traffic police said in a statement.
Police also warned motorists against concealing, altering or tampering with registration plates, saying such violations would attract action under the applicable law.
Vehicle owners have been directed to ensure that registration number plates are properly displayed at both the front and rear of their vehicles.
The traffic police said special checking drives would continue across Gurugram to enforce traffic regulations and improve road safety.
